WHY TIMBALUME
Timber character. Rethought from the material up.
TimbAlume takes a different approach to architectural outdoor surfaces — separating the visible timber-inspired finish from the underlying board structure. Precision-extruded aluminium provides the underlying profile, while a co-extruded SURLYN™ ionomer surface provides the visible timber-inspired character.
01 — Aluminium beneath
The underlying profile is precision-extruded 6063-T5 aluminium — a material widely used in architectural extrusions. Aluminium naturally forms a protective oxide layer and does not rust in the same way as carbon steel.
02 — SURLYN™ surface technology
The visible timber-inspired surface uses co-extruded SURLYN™ ionomer technology. SURLYN ionomers are a material family known for toughness and abrasion resistance, developed for demanding protective-surface applications.
03 — Less reliance on timber maintenance
Because the underlying board is aluminium, there is no timber board beneath the visible surface requiring the traditional sanding, oiling or staining cycle. A low-maintenance alternative to conventional timber decking — with routine cleaning and care still required.
04 — A coordinated material system
Boards, starter and finishing components, edge details and drainage components are developed together around the extruded profile — a coordinated architectural system rather than a standalone board.
Not timber made more durable. Not composite made to look like timber. A different material system altogether.
