TimbAlume Product Warranty — Version 2.0 · Effective 11 October 2026
Every TimbAlume decking board is supplied with a voluntary limited warranty against manufacturing defects: 20 years in residential use, 15 years in commercial use, measured from the original purchase date.
The summary below is a guide to the warranty, not a substitute for it. The warranty itself is the TimbAlume Product Warranty (v2.0), which sets out the terms and conditions. Where this page and the full warranty differ, the full warranty governs.
At a glance
What is covered
A manufacturing defect in a TimbAlume AD01 decking board — a defect in the aluminium profile or the co-extruded surface layer caused by manufacture, a board that does not match the confirmed order description, or a board that is otherwise materially defective on delivery.
For how long
20 years for residential use · 15 years for commercial use, from the original purchase date. The benefit reduces across the period — see the recovery schedule below.
What is not covered
Anything other than a manufacturing defect. This warranty is not a performance, durability, cosmetic, service-life or no-maintenance guarantee. The exclusion groups are listed below, and in clause 6 of the full warranty.
What this warranty does not cover
This warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It does not cover the following — these are the exclusion groups in clause 6 of the full warranty, in plain language:
Appearance and ageing — normal weathering, colour change or fading, chalking, sheen or gloss change, grain or texture variation, batch-to-batch variation, minor cosmetic differences and the gradual ageing of the surface. Our samples and imagery are indicative only.
Installation and site issues — incorrect or non-workmanlike installation; work that does not follow our current installation, storage, handling or care documentation; inadequate substructure, joists, supports, drainage, ventilation, clearance, waterproofing or movement allowances; incorrect spacing, fixing method, fastener or span; installation in a project the product was not suitable for.
Modification and damage after supply — cutting, machining, drilling, routing or other modification beyond normal cutting to length; impact, scratching, abrasion, denting, burns, stains or other avoidable damage in handling, storage, installation or use.
Environmental and chemical causes — damage, staining or discolouration from oils, tannins, rust, bore or mineral water, pool or spa chemicals, fertilisers, soil, sunscreen, food, drink, mould, mildew, leaves, organic matter, metallic particles, fire, extreme heat or weather events, hail, or environmental contaminants.
Movement — bowing, twisting, warping, cupping, distortion or separation caused by thermal movement where expansion or movement allowances were not provided, by poor storage, by an inadequate or moving substructure, or by unsuitable project conditions.
Incompatible materials — use with unauthorised or incompatible fixings, fasteners, clips, sealants, adhesives, coatings, membranes, cleaning products or chemicals.
Third-party work — workmanship, installation, design, engineering, certification, waterproofing or advice supplied by any third party, including installers, builders, engineers, certifiers and designers.
Unapproved applications — use in any application, environment or manner we have not confirmed in writing is suitable, including structural or load-bearing use, elevated use over habitable space, stairs, ramps, pool surrounds, and coastal, marine, corrosive, high-traffic or public applications.
Regulated performance — fire, BAL, slip, NCC/BCA, Australian Standards, waterproofing, structural or any other regulated performance or compliance matter, which we do not warrant unless it is separately verified and approved in writing by the appropriate professional.
Accessories — fixings, screws, clips, trims, joists, gutters and sealants are not Covered Products under this warranty.
Transport after delivery — damage occurring in transport after the product has been delivered to or collected by the customer, or after risk has passed to the customer.
Failure to notify or preserve — defects that are not notified to us in accordance with clause 10, or that are made materially worse by continuing to use, install, cut or modify the product after you became aware of the issue.
Consequential and indirect loss — labour, removal, reinstallation, freight, transport, accommodation, access equipment, project delay, loss of use, loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, or other consequential or indirect loss or damage.
These exclusions apply to the voluntary warranty benefit only. They do not limit any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

How the benefit reduces over the warranty period
The benefit of the voluntary warranty reduces across the warranty period. If a claim is accepted, the remedy is calculated on the original purchase price for a credit or refund, or on the quantity of replacement product, using the percentage for the year in which the claim falls. A claim in years 6–8, for example, is met at 50% of the original purchase price of the defective boards.

16–20 years
The remedy is limited to the defective quantity of boards — the boards affected by the accepted defect, not the whole deck or order — and the maximum benefit under this voluntary warranty is the original purchase price paid for that defective quantity.
This schedule applies to the voluntary warranty benefit only. It does not limit any remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.
How to make a claim
Contact us in writing as soon as you reasonably can after you become aware of a possible issue, and before the end of the relevant warranty period. There is no claim fee.
1. Tell us. Email sales@timbalume.com.au or call 0488 103 228, and include the details listed below.
2. Send what you have. Your proof of purchase, the product details, photographs or video of the issue, and the circumstances around it.
3. We acknowledge and assess. We will acknowledge your claim and assess it fairly and within a reasonable time. We may ask for reasonable access to inspect the affected boards or a sample.
4. We tell you the outcome in writing. If the claim is accepted, we provide one of the remedies in clause 7 of the full warranty — replacement product, a credit or refund, or repair.
Please include, where reasonably available:
— proof of purchase, being an invoice showing the date, the product and the quantity
— order, delivery or batch identification details
— the product name, finish and quantity affected
— clear photographs and/or video of the issue
— when the issue was first noticed
— the project location and exposure details, where relevant
— installation details and the name of the installer, where known
— details of the cleaning and maintenance carried out
Making a claim under this warranty does not itself cost you anything: there is no claim fee. TimbAlume bears the cost of assessing a claim and, where a claim is accepted, the cost of the remedy we provide. Where we ask you to return a board or a sample for assessment, and the product was supplied by us and the claim is made in good faith, we will reimburse reasonable documented freight or arrange and pay for collection. Please do not return product without our prior written instruction.
If you become aware of a possible defect, stop using, cutting, modifying or installing the affected boards, take reasonable steps to protect the affected area, and let us know. A claim is easier to assess — and usually easier to resolve in your favour — when the affected product and its surroundings are preserved.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
This warranty is a voluntary promise given by TimbAlume, and it is in addition to your other rights and remedies under Australian law.
